Shatterproof

Shatterproof is a national nonprofit launched in 2013 dedicated to ending the devastation addiction causes families. Initially focused on addiction stigma and support, Shatterproof now advocates for evidence-based solutions to the opioid and substance use crisis. It pushes for policy changes like broader access to treatment and recovery services, better prescribing practices, and use of opioid settlement funds for prevention and treatment. Shatterproof also educates the public (e.g., through its National Stigma Survey and resources for communities) and mobilizes its network of advocates — many with lived experience — to urge lawmakers at federal and state levels to prioritize addiction prevention and mental health training for first responders.
